August 2022 Meeting Minutes

Old Business and Officer Reports

Vice Presidents Report -- The Deanna Hogan Class will be on March 11 and 12, 2023, and the cost will be $150.00.

Secretary,-- Names listed in the newsletter will show only the first name and first letter of the last name.

Publicity-- Ann C. will put notices in the available Eastside Newspapers to list our meetings.

Show & Sale-- We will take sign-ups for the doll show sales tables at the September meeting. If you cannot be at the meeting, you can email Andrea. A sales spot will cost $15, whether it is a full table or a half. Save the date flyers were distributed. The Bird Dolls, Alice In Wonderland challenge dolls, Misc. dolls, and older Alice in Wonderland dolls can be displayed at the show.

InFiber Collaboration -- Spirit Dolls--These will not be due until 2023.

Katie asked us to continue to send her photos of finished dolls for our Facebook page.

Old Business and Officer Reports

As discussed at the May meeting, Colleen Colquhoun cannot present a class next spring. Other suggested possibilities include Charlie Patrcolo, Deanna Hogan, Kathryn Walmsley, Barabara Schonoff, and Susan Fosnot. Jude reported we currently have 26 paid members. Signup for the Show and Sale starts in September.

Spirit Dolls--These will not be due until 2023.

Kathryn Walmsley presented the program on glass eyes. She shared two handouts: 1) Five Face Maps; 2) Examples of various eyes used and tips for finding glass eyes.

A few Crafts paints

Paint Brushes

Glue

Popsicle sticks

Spanish moss

We will also provide

Paper towels and plates to work with.

If members can bring:

Ribbons

Silk Flowers

Lace

Buttons

And any other items they can think of to attach to their houses (and share with others).

It would also be nice if others can bring paint and brushes to share

New Business

The possibility of having a face-making workshop for spirit dolls using paper clay was discussed. We would invite members of InFiber to participate. There was a discussion on faces and the need for a class on just making faces. Several members start dolls but do not finish them because they are unhappy with the faces. The idea of having a challenge for a doll without a face was brought up.

Program

The program consisted of viewing the fiber art display in the gallery, visiting the Guilded Nest gift shop, and Pass Time Fabrics. Several members made purchases at both shops. Pass Time Fabrics had gift bags for each of us. Afterward, we went to The Depot for lunch.
