Happy Birthday to Katie, Sandy, and Ann R. this spring month.

March Meeting Minutes
Icy roads to the east prevented some of our members from coming to this months meeting.  Those present were:  Jude, Ron, Julie G., Vicki, Ann R., Elena, Cindy, Ann C., Andrea, Denise, Julie W., and Nita.

Show and Tell
Elena showed us two house spirit dolls she has made.
Elena's House Spirits
One was a very serious old man image.  He wore Russian shoes, carried keys to every door in the house, had a money bag and watch.  His name is Domovoy (Gregory in English).  These are great spirits, Elena.  Maybe we should all make one for our own home!

Julie G. has been making more dolls from Nita's pattern which Nita kindly shared with us. (Thanks, Nita)  These dolls are so cute and apparently addictive!

Ann C. has been busy making beautiful beaded jewelry.

We welcomed new member Cindy who shared some dolls she has made.  One she made on a dollmaking cruise with Patti Culea. and Cyndi Mahlstadt.  Cyndi's doll is made with a wire armature and cloth over clay face.

Nita also made two more of her dolls from her original pattern.  They are adorable!

Business Meeting
Julie G. informed us that the Marla Niederer class is now full.  Those who have completed payment for the class will be receiving their patterns sometime in May so they may start their pre-work for the class.
Jude, our treasurer announced the club now has a "square" to make payments to the club easier with the use of a credit card.  Technology is wonderful!
Since some of our members who are participating in the Round Robin/Brown Bag Doll exchange were not able to come due to weather, they will exchange at the April Sew-in.

For our program this month we had a swap meet.  Andrea also arranged for "Erin the Librarian" to give us a mini-presentation on library resources and databases. The Indianapolis Public Libraries have fantastic digital offerings and Erin did an excellent job of introducing us to the web site and teaching us how to find all sorts of doll related materials.  Thank you Erin!  We learned a lot about this modern technology from you.  And thanks, Andrea, for arranging this for our group!

Next Meeting
Instead of meeting at the library this month we will be going on a field trip to the Art Museum (Newfields) in Indianapolis for a tour of the new exhibit Bes-Ben:  The Mad Hatter of Chicago. We are meeting on Saturday April 21 for our docent guided tour with Janet Brandt. We will meet in the lobby of the museum at 10:30 am. The tour will begin at 11:00 am  The club is paying for your admission to the museum. Lunch is your responsibility and optional.  Parking at the museum is free. The address is 4000 Michigan Road, Indianapolis 46208.  If you have not signed up to go, please contact Julie G. so you will not be left out!

April Sew-In
Several members came to the April Sew- In.  Kathryn did an excellent presentation on making shoes for our dolls with examples of ones she has made and actually making one as we watched.  Thanks, Kathryn, for a great session!  The remainder of the weekend was spent working on UFO's and making doll shoes.
