June Meeting Minutes

We had a productive June meeting with Andrea, Mary, Ron, Julie G., Nita, Martha, Erin, Jude, Julie W., Ann R. and Janet present.  We also welcomed guest Eda Q. who had met Katie at her sewing guild.  Eda is an experienced sewer who has designed her own doll clothes and we hope she comes back again!

Show and Tell

Erin showed us a dress she made for her daughter Bea and a travel bag for a trip to an upcoming wedding.
Martha had made a quilt top for her brother with a nautical theme.
Nita showed us her Grace doll she finished after taking Sue's recent class.

Nita's Grace
Julie G.'s Patience
Julie W.'s Patience

Julie G. and Julie W. both finished their Patience dolls from Sue's class.

Janet showed some hand dyed skin tone fabrics from Rainbow Fabrics.  Thanks Janet.  These fabrics would be wonderful to use for our dolls.

Business Meeting

Plans for our 2nd weekend workshop for this year are kind of up in the air.  Be sure to attend our July meeting to discuss what we will do.  We are still planning on something for Labor Day weekend.
We discussed next year's meeting in May with River City, where to have it, and our Tarot card doll challenge.
Charity Dollmakers at work
Working together for a worthwhile charity
After our meeting most of the members stayed for the Charity Doll Sew-in.  Several dolls were completed as you can see from the photo at the top of the newsletter.  Many more body parts were started and it was suggested we might work on them at the Labor Day weekend workshop.  These dolls will go to the Children's Bureau which offers emergency, temporary shelter for endangered children, runaway and homeless youth in Central Indiana. This program also provides temporary emergency services and shelter to youth removed from their homes for abuse and neglect. Planned respite care is available for children of parents who are facing difficulties.  We are happy to donate our dolls to such a worthwhile organization!
