Andrea shared that she is attending John C. Campell Folk School in October and taking a wood carving class and plans to make a Penny Wood doll. Can't wait to see what you bring to the October meeting, Andrea!

Jude brought her Kitschy Friends doll from Barbara and some Tilda fabric she found at Crimson Tate.  What a fun doll and beautiful fabric!

Show and Sale still needs a chairman and Secretary/Newsletter.  Previous officers will be happy to train and help the new person.

Discussed were the possibilities for charity projects.  One suggestion is a silent auction for this year and next year possible polar fleece blankets to donate to a worthy cause.

Also discussed was having another open house tribute to a noteworthy doll maker in 2024 like we did earlier this year for elinor peace bailey.

Sue and Virginia are working on final details for our Spring 2024 doll workshop to be held April 27-28.  Amy Felske has a felt dragon that she could teach us.  Her work Incipient Madness may be seen on Facebook.

Program

Sue gave an excellent presentation on making Japanese Cloth Flowers

Sue and Virginia gave us kits so we could all sew along.  This was so much fun, and we all were able to make a completed flower following Sue's excellent instruction.

Can you guess whose hands you see?

Sue shared some very good reference books that may be available in your local library.

Next Meeting

For our October meeting, Leslie will be demonstrating how to make Rolled Fabric Dolls.  Leslie is making all-inclusive kits for us, so you don't need to bring any supplies.
Our next meeting is October 21, 2023, at the Irvington Branch Library at 10:00 a.m.  Our meeting room is on the right upon entering the library.

Tribute to Ron

Sadly, Ron G., one of our long-time members of Indy Art Doll Makers passed away recently. Ron and his wife Julie G. have supported and contributed immensely to our wonderful group.  He made a number of dolls over the years and one of them is treasured by our president, Andrea.  It is a pin doll given to her a while back.  Ron often gave credit to his wonderful wife, Julie G., for "helping" him with his creations.  Ron was always in regular attendance, and we all enjoyed his presence and stories he would tell.  He loved going to Jockamo's across the street after our meetings and getting his salad in the blue bowl. At our annual November Show and Sales, he would help his wife at her sale table. We will all miss him at our meetings.  Rest in peace, Ron. You were one of a kind! We love you and miss you.
