Meeting Minutes

Members present for the October meeting were Nita, Julie G. (who was our nametag winner!), Ron, Ann C., Katie, Julie W., and Andrea.
Most of the meeting was about our November 20th Holiday Art Fair and Art Doll Show. Set up will be Friday, November 19th from 3-5.  The show will be on Saturday the 20th from 9-4.  Katie has gotten new signs with our new name on them for advertising. We will have a central table displaying dolls made from 2018 to the present. Sue and Virginia will be organizing voting on the doll tables.  Each member may enter two of their favorite dolls made from 2018 to present for the public to vote Best of Show.
We discussed ideas for next years meetings.  Suggestions were:  Using glass eyes in doll faces, paper shoes, sculpting feet and ankles, doll jewelry, hats, swap meet and perhaps a field trip.  Christine Shively is planning a doll class for us April 9-10.
We are looking for someone to take over Katie's position for publicity. She has digital files to pass on to her successor and  has agreed to continue managing our Facebook account.

Next Meeting

Barbara celebrates being retired on her birthday this month!  Have a great day, Barbara!

Meeting Minutes
Present at our September meeting were Ron, Julie G., Kathryn, Martha, Andrea, Katie, Jude, Julie W., Joan, and Mary.
Much of our discussion was about our Show and Sale coming up in November.  Katie has been busy working on signage and advertising.  Member tables will be selling their own hand made items and doll related supplies.  The Charity Table will  also have hand made items donated by our members and 100% of income from the Charity Table will be donated to the Hope Center Indy again this year.  We will have one large table displaying dolls members have made from 2018-2021.  Attendees will vote for their favorites and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be given.  Attendees can also vote for their favorite Edgar Allan Poe doll and favorite Button Doll from this year's challenges.
Our annual dues of $25 will resume at the beginning of 2022.

Show and Tell
Although no one had a doll they had made this month, several members did share things they have been doing.
Mary was happy to join us and told us of the beginning of a new chapter in her life.  She is working on a pattern for a poison apple (Halloween is getting closer you know).
Joan is enjoying her new embroidery machine and showed a clock face that she us working on.  She suggested a fiber exchange for an upcoming meeting.  (This will probably be in the new year.)

Martha knitted a gorgeous shawl which she proudly wore and was happy to share that she  recently adopted another Dachshund named Charlie.

Kathryn shared a Halloween doll  she received from her friend Julie G. for her birthday.  She also had made a beautiful zipper bag.

Unfortunately, Virginia was unable to attend the meeting to present her paper shoe program.  It was decided to do the program in 2022.  We are looking for ideas for other programs for 2022 as well.  If you are not able to attend the next meeting please email your ideas to one of the board members.
Election of officers will be coming up soon.  Joan has agreed to become our next secretary/web mistress.  Katie is stepping down from publicity.  She has done an excellent job for several years.  Katie has many contacts and resources for the person who would like to assume this position.

Business Meeting
Attending in person at the August meeting were Elena, Nita, Ann C., Maggie, Katie, Jude, Julie W., Andrea, Julie G., Ron, Joan, and Denise.
We voted and officially have renamed our club "Indy Art Doll Makers".  Katie will work on name changes on advertising signs and Facebook.  We considered redoing the blog vs. perhaps a website.  Julie W. and Joan will research the possibilities.  It was suggested we might add some tutorials on the blog or website in the future.
For the November Show and Sale, Maggie will be taking sign ups for tables at the September meeting.  We plan to have a charity table for the Hope Center.

Show and Tell
Joan has been busy playing with her new sewing machine.  She showed us several beautiful blocks she had cut from her own hand-dyed fabrics with a cut around tool and machine stitched with fabulous built in  machine stitches.  She also has a ribbon attachment she stitched out some samples with.

Martha unfortunately couldn't attend in person but let us know that her daisy baby quilt came in 2nd at the Indiana State Fair and her cat quilt received honorable mention!  Congratulations, Martha!

Elena presented our program on face sculpting.  She used nylon hosiery stuffed with polyester fiberfill which she manipulates and sculpted into amazing faces.  She uses dry pastels for lips, and human makeup to make the faces.  She also shared how she uses plastic pellets in the bottom of a doll to make it sit appropriately.
