August 19, 2023 Meeting Minutes
Present at the August meeting were Julie G., Kathryn, Ann C., Julie W., Sue, Virginia, Andrea, Katie and Mary.

Show and Tell
Kathryn told us about a fun crafting family get together she had in New Hampshire.  She shared a fun pumpkin and a pen set, and an awesome mouse automaton she had made.  The mouse is holding a piece of cheese and revolves around.

Andrea told us about classes at John C. Campbell Folk Art School.  She and her mom plan to take classes in October.  What fun she will have and be able to share with us after they get back.

Business
Sue shared an idea she had for next year's charity project to perhaps make fleece blankets to send to a charity.
Sue is contacting a possible guest instructor for spring 2024 probably April 27-28.
We discussed having another open house similar to our epb day in 2024.
Ann C. passed out new business cards and postcards she had printed.
Round Robin dolls were revealed.  Unfortunately, one of the participants was unable to attend, so there will be one more to reveal perhaps next meeting. Dolls that were completed belong to Leslie, Julie, Sue and Virginia.

Program
Andrea presented a program about disposition of our sewing rooms and doll collections.  So many things to think about that we should be doing for the future.  She reminded us that it would be good to print out a hard copy of patterns.  CDs are not as common now, so alternative ways to save our information should be considered.  Labeling our dolls is something some are doing but would be a good idea for all of us to do.  Andrea gave us a handout to make a Sewing Room Inventory.  Included should be items we have made, sewing machines, furniture, fabrics, craft supplies, books, patterns, collections, and UFOs.

Next Meeting
For our September meeting, Sue will be demonstrating how to make Japanese Cloth Flowers.
Our next meeting is September 16, 2023, at the Irvington Branch Library at 10:00 a.m.  Our meeting room is on the right upon entering the library.

June 17, 2023 Meeting Minutes
Present at our June meeting were Leslie, Ann R., Julie G., Ron, Kathryn, Suzanne, Jennifer, Julie W., Jude, Sue and Virginia. Missing today was our fearless leader who was ill. Wishing Andrea a quick recovery and see you in July! Vice-president Sue stepped in to lead our group.  Leslie was our nametag drawing winner.

Show and Tell
Jude brought her Enigma doll  to show what she had learned from Katie's hair program last month.  She had used rollers to curl the hair.  Great job, Jude!

Kathryn has been working on making scrapbooks and challenged herself to do one a month.  So far she had completed three. (Sorry I failed to get pictures😞)

Leslie wants to make her spirit doll but is still thinking about what she wants to do.

Sue found an elinor peace bailey "Haute Couture" pattern but no pictures of what a finished doll from that pattern would look like, but never fear she jumped right in and completed this fabulous creation!  Notice the pom-poms enclosed in the netting of the skirt. Amazing work, Sue!

Business
Sue is working on new member packets.  Updating of by-laws and standing rules was discussed.
Plans for our upcoming July meeting were discussed.  This will be our elinor peace bailey tribute day.
Sadly elinor passed away in early May this year. elinor was a special lady who brought joy into our lives.  Several members of our club had the honor of meeting her and learning from her. Our club had planned this day prior to her passing in hopes of sharing the day with her. Members will have epb dolls, books, and patterns on display for all to see. Plans are to have demonstrations for visitors to see how we turn fingers, make faces, how to make a simple beginner doll and who knows what else.  It will be a fun day and we look forward to seeing our visitors.  Open house will end at 1:00 p.m.

Program
Virginia presented a fascinating program on how to correct problems that occur when making a doll face including if the lips are too small, problems with the eyes, too much blush, and correcting uneven eyes. She brought her "Jar of Shame"  that contained heads and faces most people would give up on. This was an excellent presentation, Virginia.  Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us and thanks for the informative handout.

Business
A short business meeting was held so we could get on with our dollmaking.  Sue is looking into instructors for next year's workshops and had a few suggestions.  She will make contact with them and tell us more at our next meeting.  Ann C. had postcards made with last year's challenge winners and passed them out.
Round Robin dolls were exchanged.  They will come back in June with their new hairdos and be exchanged one more time to be completed.

Program
Our program at this meeting was on making a Spirit Doll.  The INfiber group was invited and we were so happy they came to join us in this dollmaking adventure.  Katie had done an amazing job on preparing for this experience.  Several in the group had never made a doll and our members were excited to share their knowledge.  Katie did step by step instructions and showed examples of how to do them.  A few were able to complete their doll by the end of the day.  Others are completing them at home.  We are looking forward to seeing these completed Spirits at our next meeting.  It certainly was a fun day.  Following are pictures of works in progress.
