Business Meeting

Joan is hoping to have a fiber artist do a workshop for us perhaps this summer.  She will let us know if it works out.  We hope so as this artist is quite good and has much to share with us.

A reminder that on July 20,  Missi Gouty (from Threads of Time in Danville, IL), will present  "The West was Won with Needle and Thread"  at the Common Threads Quilt Guild of Central Indiana, which meets at the Mount Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N 600 W, Greenfield, IN.  Her shop is having a Jelly Roll Challenge due the first weekend in November.

Another reminder:  Indiana is celebrating its 200th year anniversary this year.  Some of you might like to enter something in the State Fair to commemorate this historical event.  There is an entry fee of $30 until June 30th.  After July 1 the fee goes up to $50.  Here is the link to the entry website:  http://www.indianastatefair.com/state-fair/entry-information/indiana-arts-building/

Following our business meeting we had a group sew-in to work on our Fantasy Face pindolls for the May meeting with River City.  These will be fabulous faces when finished to exchange.

Next Meeting

Our May meeting will be with the River City Doll Club in Cincinnati.  We will meet for lunch at Red Rose Jems Pizzeria,  5915 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati at 11:00.  There will be show and tell, a gift bag exchange, and pin doll challenge/exchange after we eat.  The challenge is to make a Fantasy Face pindoll.  You may make two pindolls (from the pattern given to us by River City) and one will be for the challenge, the other will exchanged with another one of the club members.  The gift bag can contain anything doll related from your stash or otherwise with a $20 limit. These are optional.  You don't have to bring anything other than spending money for food and shopping.   After the meeting at 2:00 we will proceed just a few blocks to Silk Road Textiles, 6106 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati.  They offer many types of fine fabrics and yarn and quality fibers including silk dupione, cotton velveteen, linen, raw silk, silk-wool blends, and silk-linen blends.  The owner of Silk Road textiles will give us a demo on art felt paper. This will be a fun day you won't want to miss!

Suellen Odell, Grace and Patience Workshop

Suellen Odell
 Grace and Patience Workshop

April 2016

Suellen Odell presented a fabulous weekend workshop for the Indy Cloth Dollmakers at the Creative Arts and Event Center in Greenfield, Indiana.  Grace and Patience were made from the same basic pattern with variations of their clothing.  Sue shared with us many of her own valuable techniques in making these dolls.  Following are photos from the workshop.  Pictures of the completed dolls will be in future newsletters.  Everyone had a fantastic, fun, and productive weekend.  Thank you, Sue, for sharing your expertise with us! Thank you Virginia for your valuable assistance.  And thank you, Joan, for arranging to get the venue and making dinner reservations at Mi Casa in Greenfield for us!
