Member Birthdays
Andrea is our only birthday person this month and it falls on our meeting day!  We know you will have a great day!

July Meeting Minutes
Present in July were Julie G., Ron, Jude, Leslie, Ann R., Andrea, Maggie, Ann C., Nita, Vicki, Janet, and Martha.

Show and Tell
Maggie shared that she had made a cute little sundress for a little girl for charity.  She also made a child size quilt from fabric by artist Cori Dantini.  How nice.  Some child will be very fortunate to receive it!

Janet has continued on her 100 projects challenge making zippered pouches and triangle shaped pouches.  Keep it up, Janet!

Martha repurposed a shirt with an inset of a piece of lace from her Mom's table cloth and a quilt block.  Very ingenious, Martha!

Business
Barbara Schoenoff will be presenting her workshop for "Backstage at the Faery Review" for our members on August 26 and 27.  If you have not signed up for the class and would like to, contact Jude.  The workshop will be at the Franklin Rd. Library, 5550 S. Franklin Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46239.  The cost is $25 for members and a check can be made out to Doll Creators and sent out to Jude or give it to her at the August meeting.  Times are 9-5 on Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday.  Plans are to eat at Santorini's on Saturday night.  Let Julie G. know if you are going to dinner so she can make reservations.  Patterns for the doll have been emailed.  If you have signed up and not gotten the pattern, contact Leslie.

Leslie is working on details for the Spring 2018 workshop which will probably be March 24 and 25th or April 7 and 8.  Details will be available when they are finalized.

The Round Robin/ Brown Bag Doll exchange will take place at our August meeting.  Our doll will be sporting new shoes!  The final exchange will be in October when the dolls will have been embellished and have accessories.

Also at our August meeting we will be having our charity doll workshop.  We will make Scribbles dolls to give to a local charity. Scribbles is a free cloth doll pattern by Cyndy Sieving that can be made for charity.   For each doll, bring 2 arms and 2 legs (sewn and turned), 2 head pieces (one with face), and 2 body pieces (cut out), and hair.     Sew and stuff the arms and legs. Sew the head pieces to the body pieces, but do not sew them together.  We will do that at the meeting.  If you'd like to make the ears, baste them to the head.   Virginia, Janet and Denise are bringing sewing machines and Nita will bring stuffing.   Julie W. and Jude will be making some machine embroidered faces to share, so you could also bring some bodies without the face attached.  You could also bring ribbons or fiber for hair, tools for embroidery, stuffing tools, etc.  Our library meeting room will be available to us from 10 to 5 that day.

Also at the August meeting we will have a swap meet, so clean out your craft rooms and bring unwanted stuff and take home wanted stuff!

Maggie  informed us that the Quilters Guild of Indianapolis Semi-Annual Quilt Show will be on October 20 and 21st at the Westfield Middle School. More information is available on their website.  Many of our doll makers also have a love for quilting and will enjoy this show.

Following the Business Meeting Andrea presented a program on lace.  This was an excellent program, very interesting and informative.  Great job Andrea!
