August Meeting Minutes
At our August meeting the following people were present:  Ann R., Katie, Vicki, Ann C., Julie G., Ron, Denise, Andrea, Nita, Kathryn, Jude, Julie W., and Leslie.

Show and Tell
Katie brought her doll "Joy's Journey" which was the winner of the People' Choice award and 2nd place for a doll from an original design at this year's AFICC in April.  Congratulations, Katie!  Well done!  She is simply wonderful!  Katie also brought "Cloud" with her baby "Sky".  Barbara had given the doll body she made from a pattern by Jennifer Carson to Katie who completed the clothing and added her baby.  Very sweet!

Julie G. completed her "Goddess" she began in Marla Niederer's class at AFICC.  She admitted the doll was a challenge for her, but she did complete her and she is beautiful!

The meeting continued with discussion of plans Leslie is working on for the 2018 workshops.
It was concluded that our hours for the November Show and Sale will be 9-4.  People's Choice voting will end at 3:00 to allow time for a tally and awards.  Maggie will take sign-ups for sales tables in September.

Sue and Virginia brought the Indy ClothDollmakers Pattern Book extension.  If you would like one of these, please contact Sue or Virginia or one of the officers.

Indiana State Fair 2018 entries were discussed.  Our club would like to make its presence known there and encourage members to submit entries.  Jude motioned that the club pay the entry fee and Vicki seconded the motion which was then voted on and passed.
Katie has graciously volunteered to assume the position as chair person for Publicity for now.  Thank you Katie!
After the regular meeting the Round Robin/Brown Bag Dolls were exchanged.  This was the last trade.  The completed dolls with their embellishments and or accessories will be due in October and the doll returned to its' original maker.
We then began our Charity doll sew-in and Swap Meet.  Many "Scribbles" were completed to give to the Children's Bureau.  Our group really enjoyed working together on this worth while cause.  Thanks to those who participated and to those who brought completed dolls but were unable to stay for the sew-in.

Andrea delivered the completed dolls to the Children's Bureau.

Backstage at the Faery Review

Backstage at the Faery Review

Our very own Barbara Schoenoff was our guest instructor on August 26 & 27 for our fall workshop. Backstage at the Faery Review is a group of adorable Faeries named after famous actresses from years gone by:  Anne, Ava, Marlena, Leslie, Cyd, and Audrey. The first day Barbara instructed us on how she sculpts their sweet faces.

After a full day of dollmaking many of our group went to Santorini's, a wonderful Greek Restaurant in Fountain Square. The food was great and we even had a belly dancer entertaining us.  Our waitress did an outstanding job meeting our needs!

The second day was a shorter workday.  Barbara showed us a unique way of making wings and using silk flowers for embellishment.

We were all happy with what we accomplished.  Many dolls were close to completion with just a few added touches to do at home.  Thank you Barbara for a fantastically fun Faery weekend!!!
