Elena started off Show and Tell with an angel wall doll made from paper mache'. She is fabulous, Elena!

Joan had just returned from a trip to Pakistan and showed us some wonderful hand work pieces she had brought back.

Andrea had been to a week long workshop at John C. Campbell Folk School at which she constructed not one but two kaleidoscopes.  Amazing workmanship, Andrea!

Katie has done a facebook page for our club.  Look for it at "Indy Cloth Dollmakers".  We will be posting pictures of dolls members have made, events and highlights of our club.  If you have a picture of a doll you would like posted, let one of the board members know and we will do that for you.
Andrea has requested suggestions for a local charity to support.  Please contact Andrea by the June meeting at which time we will vote for one.
Sue will be teaching at our fall workshop on August 31 and September 1.  Patterns will be available upon payment for the class.
Some members were going to AFICC and we are looking forward to see and hear what all they did.  Since our May meeting is a road trip we will have to wait until June to hear all about it.

Our April program was stuffing, closing openings, and jointing our Patti Culea dolls.  Andrea led us with some great techniques and samples.  She also gave us a handout on sizing of hands for our dolls.  Something to consider when we do hands at the June meeting.

Kathryn, Julie G., Denise, Sue and Virginia had all taken a class with Indiana Dollmaker Beth Anne Darr which explains their absence at the February meeting.  What a fabulous faery made with a flower pot base, hand dyed materials, dollskin face, and pastel chalks.  Great job ladies!

Andrea brought in many books and patterns that had been gifted to our club for members to have.  These are all greatly appreciated.   A big thank you to the donors, Edie Gentile in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Todd Daniels-Howell, the husband of Ellen who was a former member who very unfortunately has passed away.

Business
Katie has been working on publicity for our club.  A Facebook group is being considered.  She also has requested members to provide her with some good close-up face pictures of dolls that could be added to the banner that appears on our business cards and at the top of our blog.
Maggie has been working on guidelines for our Show and Sale.  Members need to sign up for tables by our September meeting.  It was proposed to rename our Show and Sale as a Holiday Art Fair and  Art Doll Show as "we're more than just dolls"!
We will be having holiday inspired items for sale at the show.  The money made from those items will be donated to charity.  These items could be ornaments, dolls or doll clothes, pincushions or any other personally hand crafted item made by  a member.  The charity has yet to be decided for this year..
Our program for March was putting together kits for AFICC (Artistic Figures in Cloth & Clay ) coming up April 25-28, 2019. Teamwork made this go very quickly.  Thank you everyone for helping!  These kits will be perfect for promoting our club at AFICC.

Next Meeting
Our next meeting is Saturday, April 20.  For our program we will cover stuffing, closing openings, and different styles of joints for our Patti Culea doll which there wasn't time to do at the March meeting.   Andrea will lead the group in a discussion of these techniques.  The May meeting is a road trip to Cincinnati, so the next techniques will be at the June meeting at which time we plan to make our hands.  AFICC is coming very soon (April 25-28).  If you are not going to AFICC but have display dolls (challenge dolls or other dolls you have made in the last year or so) please bring them and members who are going will take them for you.

Happy Birthday Colleen and Julie W.!

February Meeting Minutes
There were 12 members at the February meeting.  Andrea, Janet, Joan, Jude, Katie, Martha, Ann R., Leslie, Vicki, Mary, Maggie, and Ann C. were all in attendance.
Maggie won the name tag drawing.
Not much show and tell this meeting, but Joan never ceases to amaze us with her creativity.  Here are two examples:

We will be having a Charity Sale at the November Show. It was decided that any type of item can be made by club members to sell.  The maker should set the price for their items.  100% of the sale price will be donated to the charity we decide on.
To decide on a charity to support -- interested club members should submit a short proposal describing their preferred local charity.  Send them to Andrea between now and June.  She will gather them up and share them with the club at the June meeting, and we will vote in July for the charity we will donate to this year.
Katie will look into reprinting our business cards, and possibly add meeting time info to the back. She and Joan are researching Facebook groups.  Katie is also interested in updating or re-doing the photo banner, so she is inviting people to send her good face photos of their dolls.
The program was  discussing Patti Culea patterns, and how to start a doll, with attention given to fabric, grainline, hand-basting, and methods of marking patterns.

Next Meeting
For March, people should bring their sewn and stuffed body, legs, and maybe arms -- stuffed but not sewn closed.  We'll talk about stuffing and closing those openings, as well as joint attachments.  We'll do hands in April, so if your arm pattern is attached to the hands, bring just body and legs in March.
Also in March, everyone please bring 5-10 strips of cotton fabric, measuring 3"x10".  We need about 90 all together.  They do not have to coordinate.  These will be the skirts for the small doll kits we are putting together for the AFICC gift bags.
